Lately I have been thinking a lot about dating after breakups. Obviously this is something I think about a lot, I blog about it on the reg, but I've been wondering about rebounds. Mainly, how do we classify something as real or a rebound? And, what if we start thinking about a rebound in a new way.
Is the first person you date post breakup automatically a rebound, even if you like them? Or, is a rebound someone who you date a couple times for a confidence boost and distraction?
A friend of mine once told me she thought Max was a rebound. That made my blood boil, because to me, a rebound is someone that doesn't matter, and a relationship that means nothing. That person you just keep around to make yourself feel a bit better. But what if that isn't the case? What if a rebound happens to be someone you love? What if they help you bounce back from a hard time in your life, and still mean something to you at the same time? Lately I have been wondering about this, and asking myself if having a new outlook on the term rebound can change the dating game.
Maybe there are people that we date in order to distract us from something or to feel better. But maybe those people can end up being the real thing.
What do you think? Until next time!
