"It's going to be winter soon, it's time to couple up." That is a direct quote I heard from a coworker. I have noticed that a lot of people I know enter relationships in the fall and winter, but this was the first time I've ever heard someone say it is time they couple up BECAUSE it is going to be the winter. That got me thinking, does the season actually have something to do with dating and relationships?
As I stop and take a look at the anniversary dates of couples I know I've counted 2 in September, 2 in January, 3 in December, and only one between June, July, and August. Once I noticed this I did a little research. I asked my friend, whose anniversary is in September, why they got together then. She said that she didn't want to settle down during the summer, wanted the time to just have fun and take it slow.
This made a bit of sense to me. In the summer, I love to have fun with my friends, live day by day, and just let loose. In the winter, I like to stay home, watch movies, and relax. These behaviors make sense when thinking about relationships. In my two relationships we loved to just stay in and hangout. The perfect winter activity. In the summer, there were nights we got invited to bonfires and parties, but missed them because we just wanted to stay in together. During the winter you probably won't be attending those types of things. It is more acceptable to stay in and just relax.
After thinking about all this, I can understand why people wait to get into relationships depending on what is going on in their lives. What do you all think? Let me know!
Until next time!
