Everyone says that the start of a new relationship feels magical and unlike anything you have felt before. It seems like anyone who is going through this says that it is an experience they will never forget. Now, this all sounds amazing and exciting but, is it really true? What if we have more than one serious relationship and we feel this way every time? If we do, then it really isn't like we are feeling this way for the first time in our lives- we have felt this way before. This leads me to ask, is every new relationship supposed to feel this way, or will it just happen with the special ones? The ones that will change your life? Or will this experience still feel magical every time, just in a different way?
When I started dating Max I will say that it felt different than when I started dating Sam. It still felt special and wonderful, but just in a different way. Now I look back and I can confidently say I loved Max more than I ever loved Sam. I wonder if this feeling in the beginning had something to do with it. I felt much stronger feelings towards Max at first than I did with Sam. What I had with Max was almost magnetic, what I had with Sam grew over time. Both beginnings did feel special, but ultimately they resembled one another. What I felt with Max was not entirely new, I felt a part of it before. Even though I experienced the feeling of a new relationship before Max, it didn't discount the experience I had with him. It was still special in its own way.
This all made me realize that yes, when we move from relationship to relationship, we will still feel similar butterflies that we had in past relationships, but they will be for different reasons. Something you love about a new person will be different than the first, causing new excitement and new love. I do believe that the feeling of falling in love can be felt more than once, but I believe it shows itself in different ways.
Until next time!
